Monsters, iPhones, and Birthdays... OH MY!
I know the actual art updates have been lacking from this site recently, but I assure you it has nothing to do with me not producing art. It's actually quite the opposite in that I'm working on a great number of projects right now, but can't show anything from them. I know that sounds like a lame thing to say, but it really is the truth. I've been animating non-stop for the last 2 months, but until the project is announced, I can't show anything from it here on the ol' blog.
In the meantime, you really should hit up my Twitter page, as I've been pretty good about keeping that updated with random silly stuff, and give a poke through the people I'm following as there are a few famous faces from the Animation world.
I turned 34 this past Saturday, and when I was finished stocking up on adult diapers, my wife took me to see "Monsters Vs. Aliens" in plain, old, boring 2D, which was exactly what I asked for. You can read this previous post if you missed my riveting rant on stereoscopic 3D.

The film was really well done, and I loved the art direction through most of the it. I felt the plot was a bit shallow, but had some really great gags. As a fun popcorn flick, I thought that it really delivered, and there certainly wasn't a shortage of eye candy.
That whole sequence where the President "welcomes" the aliens is worth the price of the ticket alone.
Now I anxiously await the release of "Up!"
To top off a wonderful Birthday, my beautiful bride also surprised me with a wide array of Cars, Monsters Vs. Aliens, Wall-E and Kung Fu Panda toys, which I now have lovingly displayed in my office at home! She even got me a Kung Fu Panda cake, and had the folks at the bakery combine the KFP figues with a "Gone Fishing!" set of trees and rocks to make a really amazing cake that looked like it was straight out of the movie. Well... if the movie had taken place on the top of a cake.
I'm also working with a couple of super-talented people on at least a couple of iPhone Apps/Games. Details on those as we get closer to release. They really are fun little projects though, so I hope you guys enjoy them.
I've also got a couple of the illustrated chip games that I'm trying to get finished up. As I've said in the past, I have a blast working on these because the company really lets me do whatever I want with them. They also don't need Disney-caliber illustrations, so I can feel a bit more open about experimenting with techniques and trying new stuff.
Throw a 17 month old son on top of all of this, and you can see that life has been pretty busy as of late. The blog will get updated soon enough, and until then keep checking my Twitter page for daily updates of all kinds.
Take care! Share this on: facebook
